Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” (Matthew 19:14, NLT)
Jesus made it perfectly clear that children were not only welcomed to hear His teachings, but that everyone else should have their approach to faith: complete and total. And we wholeheartedly say, “Yes!”
Our mission at Germantown Methodist Church is to help kids to learn about Jesus and His love for them by reading the Bible, learning Bible verses, learning about people in the Bible, singing praise songs, and by watching videos that help our young followers of Jesus better understand the Bible lessons. Our Sunday School kids’ classes consist of a “Mini-Trackers” class for 2-3-year-olds, a Pre-K to 1st grade class, and a 2nd-5th grade class, which provide Bible-based lessons & crafts. We also offer a summertime 3-4 day Bible School for kids K-5th grade, and other kid events (pre-K to 6th grade) which include: a Christmas Bingo party for kids & their grandparents at the church; a family Uno party in the winter; a visit to a family farm in the fall; attending kids’ movies at local theaters or at the church; and visiting an indoor play area in the winter! The kids also participate in filling shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child in October & November, and they provide hand-made decorations for Mothers’ Day & Fathers’ Day for the residents at Astoria Rehab Center in Germantown.
Sunday School
We at Germantown Methodist Church want to encourage children of all ages to attend Sunday school. What better way to do that than with engaging and caring teachers and exciting activities and crafts. And don’t forget, there’s donuts!
Sundays 10:15-11:15 AM
Pre-K to 1st Grade taught by Robin White (Room 11)
2nd to 5th Grades taught by Theresa Fiessinger (Room 7)
All kids in Pre-K to 5th grade join together to watch the “Trackers of Faith” videos that support and explain the Bible verses and Bible stories in the lessons each week. We follow the adventures of farmer brothers Luke and Duke, Jenny, the biblical brains of the crew, Penny, the tech-savvy member, Walker, the handyman, and Milton, the talking pig! They can go back in time, with a special flashlight, and see Jesus performing miracles, teaching, and showing us how to live a Christian life!
Plus monthly activities. Some are held at the church, and some are at local locations, such as a movie theater or an indoor playground!” Come find out what’s happening, and see our Facebook page for announcements.
