Hooks & Needles: Don’t forget! Crochet & Knitters get together on the 3rd Thursday of each month! August 20th, September 17th, etc. from 6-8 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your own yarn, hooks, needles, projects, snacks, & refreshments and join us for a relaxing 2 hours of fellowship and the joy of creating something from a ball of yarn! It’s FREE and it’s fun! Bring a friend, all are welcome. (And we have a knowledgeable and patient instructor-Peggy Steinmetz!)
First Church of God Volunteers: Our friends down the street at First Church of God will be celebrating their 100 year anniversary on September 20th. They are asking for volunteers for their nursery so that all of their members can be present for the celebrations. The time would be from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with lunch provided. They are looking for 3-4 people. You either need to already have a background check or be willing to obtain one. Grow Team Meeting: There will be a Grow Team meeting on Monday, August 24, from 7-8 PM in the Social Room downstairs! If you are interested in helping with ideas and activities to bring more people to our church, please join us!!! We will be working on putting together more Welcome Mugs for visitors, and brainstorming more ideas to “get the Word out” about our church and the Gospel of Jesus! We hope to see lots of “go-getters” there!!!
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
For St. Paul UMC: We continue to accept household items (no furniture) and clothing in good, usable condition. Items may be placed in the coat closet near the media booth. Please have items labeled “mission”. Our faithful volunteers, Dale White & Don Berger, deliver these items to St. Paul UMC where they are made available to those in need.
C.A.M.P. July/August Wish List: Baked Beans, Canned Vegetables, & Tissues. Personal Care & Cleaning Products are always needed & welcome. If you are able, grab one or two extra items when you go to the store.
School Supply Collection for Valley View Schools: The Go Team is sponsoring a collection of basic school supplies for Valley View Schools. We will collect the following items through the end of August: #2 Pencils, Pencil Sharpeners, 24pk Crayola Crayons, Elmer’s School Glue, Elmer’s Glue Sticks, Crayola Markers, Crayola Colored Pencils, Blunt & Fine-Tip School Scissors, Boxes of Tissues, Clorox Wipes, and Dry Erase Markers. Please bring your donations in and drop them in the box near the church office. Thank you for helping our students!
Craft Supplies: Robin White has requested donations of (empty) toilet paper rolls and buttons of all sizes. She will be using them for multiple activities.
Operation Christmas Child Aug.-Sept. Collection: National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child is Nov. 17-24! These 2 months, we will focus on collecting: Small flashlights & extra batteries, Toothbrushes & holders (NO toothpaste), Hairbrushes & combs & barrettes/pony tail holders, Mini sewing kits/travel sewing kits, Wash cloths & hand towels, Small water bottles, Barbie dolls (brand name) & Barbie clothes (can be generic), Hair accessories, All sizes of socks, Kids’ plain t-shirts (Michael’s crafts has t-shirts for $3.47!), School supplies: crayons, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, note pads, small sketch pads, solar calculators, paper clips, fun stickers, colored pencils.
*Our small gifts in those shoeboxes let these children know that they are loved and are important to those who love Jesus, as He has loved us!!!
Astoria County Store Wish List: Astoria Health and Rehab is creating a store for their residents. They are asking for donations to stock it. Here is what they would love to have: Full Size Candy Bars, Cans of Pop, Bag of Chips, Cookies, Crackers, Little Debbie Snacks, Lotions, Shower Gels, Room Sprays, Shampoo, Deodorant.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
Children’s Moments Volunteers Needed!: If you have been thinking about volunteering with Children’s Moments–here is your opportunity!!! Whether you are 16 or 116, we need your help! We need MORE volunteers! The summer months have been challenging with working around vacations & breaks, but we have been able to keep this valuable outreach to children going!! Please consider giving a lesson every 5 or 6 weeks in our rotation of volunteers. Please pray about this important piece of our worship each Sunday.
